The Bow Mate Safety, Labels & Instructions

The Bow Mate Warning & Safety Instructions

  • THE BOW MATE is NOT intended for trailered use. Do NOT float pontoon boat onto trailer with THE BOW MATE down.
  • When in a DOWN or UP position, the corners of THE BOW MATE are in an extended and new location. Bumping into Docks, Marinas or other Boats can cause damage to THE BOW MATE and Docks, Marinas and other Boats.
  • Install and Uninstall THE BOW MATE repeatedly to safely understand the complete process.
  • NEVER use THE BOW MATE in a down position when pontoon boat is under power.
  • Do NOT use THE BOW MATE as a jumping, diving or recreational platform. Injuries or death can occur.
  • Do NOT tie off anchor to Eyelet or Cleat or THE BOW MATE Hinge Pins or damage to THE BOW MATE & your pontoon boat can occur.
  • Maximum Load = 3 Adults or 450lbs / 205kg.

Do Not Anchor Round Labels

  • Do Not Anchor means exactly that. 
  • DO NOT ANCHOR using The Bow Mate HINGE PINS or when securing to a dock OR anchoring in open water OR tying off to other boats. 
  • The Bow Mate is a flexible and supportive structure, NOT a rigid, fastening or anchoring structure. 
  • Damage to The Bow Mate caused by Anchoring or Tying off in any way may cause severe injuries or even death as well as void warranties 
  • If you currently use your front eyelets / cleats for attaching your anchor or docking, then it is recommend to purchase a set a folding cleats as shown in the image. 
  • These are affordable and easy to install on a boat deck. 

Caution Label on Vertical Mounts

  • The Bow Mate Caution labels are clearly identified on the inside of each Vertical mount. 
  • These should be read and understood BEFORE installing and using The Bow Mate.
  • Safety, Load Limit, Warnings, Instructions and other Important details are described on them

Do Not Anchor or Moor Labels

  • DO NOT ANCHOR OR MOOR using The Bow Mate tie off hooks or when securing to a dock OR anchoring in open water OR tying off to other boats. 
  • The Bow Mate is a flexible and supportive structure, NOT a rigid, fastening or anchoring structure. 
  • These are for water floatation devices such as lily pads and inflatables.
  • Damage to The Bow Mate caused by Anchoring or Tying off in any way may cause severe injuries, or even death as well as void all warranties 

Stow Warning Label

  • Stow The Bow Mate when underway ALWAYS. 
  • Simply fasten a rope, cord, tie down etc to The Bow Mate front  underside hook, and to the front gate rail. 
  • NOTE: For gates that do not allow looping over a top rail, a hook may have to be installed. (SS Eye Strap Shown)

  • Instruction and warning labels are clearly visible on The Bow Mate.
  • Read and understand them ALL. 



Patent Pending Contact Labels

The Bow Mate patent pending and contact labels serve very important purposes. 

1. They show The Bow Mate is an invention and patents have been filed. Any duplication of any type may incur serious legal penalties.

2. We want you to be able to contact us at any point. Our goal is to provide first class service with Q's, feedback or concerns. 

As well we want your friends to know where they can find and purchase The Bow Mate for themselves. 


Docking Guide Pole Label

  • This label indicates the placement of the Docking Guide Poles.
  • There are 2 on each of the TOP and BOTTOM corners indicating the Guide Pole placement. 
  • The Guide Poles are 4 ft Foam Pool Noodles with a 24" piece of 1/2" PVC tube is loosely placed into one end is pressed into the 
  • 1/2" Schedule 40 White PVC MIPT x Socket Male Adapter
  • Pool Noodles provide ZERO damage to yours and other boats as well as affordable to replace if lost.


Installation Instructions

  1. Remove Hinge Pins from THE BOW MATE.
  2. Using 2 adults (1 at each end) lift THE BOW MATE safely into position.
  3. Align One Side ONLY with Pontoon Boat Eyelet, Install and secure Hinge Pin.
  4. Align opposite side with Pontoon Boat Eyelet. Install and secure Hinge Pin.
  5. IF boat is IN the water, Raise and Lower THE BOW MATE to become familiar with the full range of motion, and practice securing to Forward top door frame area.
  6. IF boat is ON it’s trailer, you will NOT be able to Raise and Lower THE BOW MATE.
  7. Install and Uninstall THE BOW MATE repeatedly to safely understand the complete process.


Removal Instructions

  1. Position 2 adults at ONE end of THE BOW MATE.
  2. lightly lift that ONE end and remove Hinge Pin from THE BOW MATE. 
  3. ONE adult now supports the removed side of THE BOW MATE.
  4. Lightly lift the opposite side of THE BOW MATE and remove the Hinge Pin.
  5. Both adults carefully lift or lower and remove THE BOW MATE from its installed position. 
  6. Install and Un-install THE BOW MATE repeatedly to safely understand the complete process.
